5202.1:
Reliability of Nanostructured Materials and Devices
Abstract
Performance, reliability, and costs are equally important criterions for usefulness and market success of any product. Up to now, little effort has been spent to analyse reliability aspects of nanotechnological processes and products or to develop the required reliability methodology and tools. This feasibility study will investigate state of the art of reliability work for nano-materials and devices, identify basic differences between reliability physics of macro/micro and nanostructures and propose a concept to further investigate reliability analysis and physics of failure specific to nano-systems and to design guidelines for development of reliable processes and products. Special needs of other TOP Nano 21 projects will be analysed and consultancy provided on request.
