Destruction of Cyanides from Industrial Effluents by Advanced Oxidation Technologies
Abstract
Cyanide destruction is a top priority in the field of toxic waste water treatment. TEX-A-TEC is and industry specializing in this area and desires to move to modern Advanced Oxidation Technology that should be more efficient, ecological and economic to destroy industrial waste water containing cyanides than the traditional methods used until now. At the EPFL the knowledge and experience is available and has to be put in the direction of the TEX-A-TEC interest. TEX-A-TEC has on the other hand reactor technology that is complementary that is complementary to the one available at the EPFL. This complementarity will be used during the one-year project. The EPFL experience involves catalysis by nano-scale oxide-clusters on innovative anionic non-corrosive matrices in reactions that by their nature are heterogeneously started and then proceed in the bulk of the solution. Initial testing of the approach put forward in this pre-proposal has been carried out with positive results.
