Nanoparticles for Biology : cell and biomimetic objects characterization and Imaging at the nanometric scale with functionalized particles by Digital Holographic Microscopy

Abstract

Digital Holographic Microscopy (DHM) is a new instrument developed at the Institute of Applied Optics (EPFL) for imaging cells and tissues. It was proved to be usefull in the observation and diagnosis in biology and medicine ". Sensitivity and specificity can be strongly enhanced by the use of functionalized nanoparticles linked to biomolecular probes
The goal of the project is to establish the feasibility of the instrument and nanoparticle technology for biomedical research and medical diagnosis. the industrial interest and market will be evaluated in more detail
