4747.1:
Fiber-based plastic nanoprobe for near field optical microscopy
Abstract
This project aims at developing a new type of probe for scanning near field optical microscopy (SNOM). This original probe is based on a chemically etched optical fiber (which has been shown to allow optical transmission in the order of 10-3), with a plastic apex produced using Si-based molding techniques and is attached at the end of the fiber. The goals of the project are to show the feasibility of such a probe, optimize its design with respect to its mechanical and near field optical properties, and propose solutions for batch production of reproducible tips that can be implemented in a future step for the fabrication of arrays of SNOM probes.
