Magnetic resonance imaging with local probes (MRI-SPM)
Abstract
The main objective is the construction of a magnetic resonance force microscope that detects the nuclear spin resonance of small volumes with a sensitivity exceeding the one in conventional inductive detection by several orders of magnitude. A force microscope operated in the field of a superconducting magnet is constructed. Force detection with high Q-factors and low spring constants is performed. Accurate digital radio frequency field generation is implemented. The ultimate aim is to perform chemical characterization on a local scale, possible on a single molecule.
