Microfabricated Scanning Probes Systems for Micro- and Nanoscale Analysis and Structuring of Interfaces

Abstract

In order to gain a better insight into electrode/electrolyte interfaces the classical electrochemical methods, allowing a spatially averaged image must be completed by techniques providing high spatial and temporal resolution. In this context, Scanning Probe Microscopies have become an essential tool. Although microfabricated probes are now standard for Scanning Force Microscopy (SFM), this is not the case for Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), including its electrolytic version ECSTM, and for Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM). The aim of this project is to microfabricate probes for both SECM and STM/ECSTM, allowing, ultimately, the integration of these two techniques.
