Innovationcheck Nanotechnology - A Tool to identify and evaluate enterprise specific application fields within nanotechnology
Abstract
Today, technology intensive companies are facing ever reducing innovationcycles, which is nto without consequences. This means that:
- The development of new technologies has to be monitored constantly
- Application fields of technologies have to be recognized and evaluated in an early stage
- Circumstances often require a quick and reliable control of technology
- Technological knowlege has to be converted quickly into applicable products, processes and services
Often companies show big difficulties with the early stages of the innovation process a majro problem being the identification and evaluation of the application possibilities of new technologies. This situation poses a threat especially to small and medium sized companies, because they have neither the competencies needed nor the resources for a systematic technology and innovation intelligence. This is especially true for the nanotechnology in Switzerland. A large part of the Swiss economy doesn't exactly know how to exploit the possibilities of this new technology. At this point the project presented aims to deliver a general methodology here called "innovation check" to identify and evaluate new technologies (i.e. nanotechnology) with the intention to develop innovations. Primerily this methodology should be applied on nanotechnology within Swiss companies.
