Nanomaterials for high efficiency and low cost Cu(In,Ga)Se2 thin film solar cells

Abstract

The unique functionality and properties of the nano-sized particles will be utilized for the production of low cost, high efficiency and stable thin film solar cells of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (called CIGS). Uniformly dense CIGS layers of large grain size (1-3 microns) and optimum opto-electronic properties will be obtained by the selenization of the nano-sized precursor layers deposited/printed by low cost and large area scalable methods. Multilayer deposition processes will be optimized to develop high efficiency solar cells and mini-modules on glass substrates.
