The Development of Self Cleaning Paints and Composites Containing Nanocrystalline Photocatalysts
Abstract
Nanoparticle photocatalysis is effective for air cleaning. Famaco SA is joining with LPI-EPFL to develop phocatalytic paints, sprays and composite materials for walls, ceilings and floor finishings.
Such paints and coats will be able to remove dirt, odours and bacteria. The main market for such products comes from restaurants, food processors, chemical and electronic industries, hospitals, laboratories, clean rooms, homes, underground stations, aeroplanes and space labs. This work is based on a patent filed by EPFL in 2000.
