Development and Production of Commercial Quantities of Nanosized Powders
Abstract
The synthesis of commercial quantities of powders with controlled and homogenous characteristics is still a challenge: there is an increasing need for particles of perfectly controlled size and shape in the nanometre range.
Often, the current manufacturing processes do not maintain the initial nanoparticles quality developed at the laboratory level when produced at the industrial scale. Using the Segmented Flow Tubular Reactor (SFTR) to manufacture such nanoparticles will guarantee that the production conditions will be the same as those optimized at the laboratory scale.
The objective of this project is to develop and adapt the SFTR process for the production of high performance multifunctional nanosized powders at the commercial level. Four high added value powders of commercial interest for energy, electronic and pharmaceutical fields will be developed so that they can successfully be produced at pilot plant level.
