Preparation and Characterization of Nanocomposite Films
Abstract
The present feasibility study deals with the preparation and characterization of nanocomposite films which consist of nanometer sized clusters embedded in a matrix. These films have recently attracted considerable interest because of their great potential in various applications. The clusters typically consist of an electrically conducting phase (e.g. noble metals, polyvalent metals or compounds such as transition metals carbides, sulfides and others) whereas the matrix consists of a conducting or insulating material, including ultra hard materials. The emphasis of the present study is to elucidate some fundamental key issues related to the nanostructure of these materials envisaged for numerous applications.
