Modeling of General Multi-Quantum-Well Structures Including Self-Consistent Coupling to a Laser Simulator (MQW)


Abstract

The goal of the project is the modelling of optical gain in multi-quantum-well (MQW) laser devices. The model employed comprises all relevant effects, including rigorous modelling of quantum effects within the quantum wells, coupling between wells and carrier transport between bound and free carriers, embedded self-consistently into a TCAD semiconductor laser simulator. Model calibration and validation by experiment are also part of the project. Experimental data are obtained from the industrial project partner.
