Production of nano-patterned materials for cell adhesion studies (NAPACEL)
Abstract
Cell adhesion on materials is determined by the surface chemistry and the topography. Using a selective molecular assembly patterning technique microstructures are produced and selectively functionalized with molecules of interest. Adhesion molecules in the cell membrane form contact points of 50-200 nm and topological features of this size may be required to optimize cell-material interactions. In this project procedures will be developed allowing a reproducible production of material-contrast nanostructures in sufficient quantities using nanoreplication techniques.
