Nanoparticulate Semiconductor Electrodes for Dye Solar Cells
Abstract
The goals of this project are the upscaling and technology transfer of key nanoparticle based technologies for the production of dye solar cells which have been developed in the laboratory of Prof. Grätzel at EPFL to the company Greatcell Solar SA. These technologies involve the synthesis of nanoparticulate semiconductors, and methods of preparing mesoporous layers from these materials on transparent conducting oxide coated glass substrates. Upscaling of the known processes at EPFL from approx. 100 g levels up to several kilogram levels will be developed and transferred to Greatcell Solar SA. This project is critical to the start-up company Greatcell Solar, as it will furnish key information and technology required for the industrial production of dye solar cells for indoor applications.
