New concept of electrical switching by nanostructured CNT-decorated contacts
Abstract
Mechanical switching of electrical current is almost always associated with the creation of electromagnetic arcing.
Along with the phenomen of arcing high temperature and pressure evolving gives rise to a destructive impact on the switching devices.
In order to improve the performance of such a switching device arcing must be reduced or even better arcfree switching should be reached. For example, a nanostructured brush-like decoration of switching device contacts with carbon nano tubes (CNT) may offer the possibility to improve the switching performance.
The task of the work will be to work out and to apply methods for the production and application of CNTs as nano-structured CNT-decoration of surfaces of contact materials.
