Sourcing of ideas and approaches to solutions

A successful Open Innovation process is based on editing and attractively tendering the tasks, in order to obtain a broad feedback of ideas and proposed solutions. In accordance with the respective entrepreneurial requirements, two principal courses of action can be pursued.

Sourcing of ideas

Crowdsourcing is especially suitable for commodity products and in the IT sector.
The customer's task is edited for a public tendering via the internet. As a rule, the best submitted ideas and proposals are awarded a bonus. There are various service providers for such platforms. Subsequently, evaluation and selection of proposals out of numerous feedbacks is done.

Scouting via networks and direct addressing of experts is mostly applied by enterprises with confidential and technically demanding tasks. TEMAS, as an independent technology trusteeship enterprise, assumes the role of a mediator in this Open Innovation process, in order to preserve anonymity of the customer in round 1, and as a coach for generalized tasks in round 1 as well as for precise and specific tasks in round 2. Based on this approach the customer can estimate in a first step, what external ideas and proposals for solution are existing, without having to make an appearance.

Independent evaluation of solution potentials by TEMAS, with regard to accomplishment of requirements and the possibilities of the customer, forms the decision-making basis for the selection of partners for round 2. An important element of this round is the mutual nondisclosure agreement. Based on this, precise and specific requirements as well as concretized ideas and proposals for solutions are exchanged, and further steps defined. This approach ensures competitive advantage for the customer, and the possibility for a long-lasting cooperation for the selected partner, guaranteeing protection of his knowledge or technology.
